S

helter House’s 2nd Annual Palate & Palette Dinner was held
at Legendary Marine’s showroom in Destin on Saturday,
January 27. The event, put together by Shelter House and
spearheaded by their Executive Director, Rosalyn Lovieno,

was designed to raise funds for the organization. Shelter House is
known for supporting victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
and also provides shelter, intervention, and primary prevention
programs to the community through education, awareness, and
advocacy for social change.

This year, the phenomenal artist, Jon Moody was brought back to

do his magic on canvas live, in front of guests as they enjoyed dinner.
Jon painted a dove with a broken wing to show his support for the
“Me Too” movement. John said, “It was the right thing to do and it
resonates with Shelter House’s core existence of being there to help

abused and battered women.” At the end of the night his painting
was auctioned for $2,500.

The 5-course dinner was prepared by 6 excellent local chefs

including Chef Tim Creehan of Cuvee 30A, Jack McGuckin of
Bijoux Destin, Dan Pettis of One20 a Modern Bistro and Chef Dan’s
FUEL, Nikhil Abuvala of Roux 30a, Wesley True of The Gulf on
Okaloosa Island and Orange Beach, and Giovanni Filippone of Vue
on 30a.

In addition to wine pairings and great food, Timber Creek

Distillery offered craft cocktails and Grayton Beer Company featured
their brews throughout the night. The president of the board at
Shelter House, Calvin Jones, thanked the guests, sponsors, and all of
those who made the evening a success and said he hoped next year
will be even bigger.
