Members of the Bread & Table Club gathered at the Cigar Factory Pensacola’s newest event space to celebrate the running of the 152nd Kentucky Derby at the whimsically themed “Talk Derby to Me” party. The venue was transformed with nods to Churchill Downs, setting the tone for an afternoon steeped in Southern charm and Derby tradition.

Guests fully embraced the occasion, arriving in classic Derby fashion. Women stunned in vibrant spring dresses adorned with florals and pastels, topped with elaborate hats and fascinators featuring feathers and intricate details. Men complemented the scene in light-toned sport coats, crisp button-downs, and bow ties, many finishing their look with straw hats or fedoras. The result was a colorful and sophisticated display that captured the true spirit of Derby Day.

Chef Greg Rodriguez of The Wine Bar on Palafox curated a menu of Derby favorites, including Hot Browns, fried chicken, tea sandwiches, and the iconic Henry Bain barbecue sauce. Signature Mint Juleps and Oaks Lily paired perfectly with the cuisine, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The celebration continued with a lively Derby hat contest where one standout look earned a fabulous gift basket, while a 50/50 drawing—featuring randomly assigned horses—brought an extra level of excitement to the race. Proceeds from the drawing benefited Nonie’s Place, a Pensacola-based children’s grief center powered by Covenant Care, providing no-cost support and healing resources to families throughout Northwest Florida.

With laughter among friends, the thrill of the race, and an unforgettable display of Derby style, “Talk Derby to Me” proved to be a winning celebration for the Bread & Table family.
