Historic downtown Pensacola was filled with patriotic spirit on the morning of July 4 as hundreds of runners and walkers took part in the annual Firecracker 5K benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida. The sold-out event featured a 5K Run, 5K Walk, and Kids Fun Run, bringing participants of all ages together for a fun Independence Day tradition with a meaningful purpose.
The race started and ended at Seville Quarter, where participants celebrated the holiday while helping support Ronald McDonald House’s mission of providing a “home away from home” for families with children receiving treatment for critical illnesses or medical crises. Proceeds from the event help maintain the Pensacola House by providing lodging, meals, and other essential services, allowing families to stay close to their children during difficult times.
After crossing the finish line, participants received commemorative finisher medals before heading inside Seville Quarter for a festive after-party. There, runners and walkers enjoyed drinks, giveaways, and the opportunity to celebrate another successful event with family, friends, and fellow participants.
The Firecracker 5K once again demonstrated Pensacola’s strong sense of community, proving that one of the city’s favorite Fourth of July traditions also makes a lasting difference for local families when they need it most.
