Held at the Coulson House on January 22, the evening felt like a true celebration as the museum reopened its doors following recent renovations and unveiled its new Permanent Art Collection. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to experience the refreshed gallery space while reconnecting with art, history, and community.

The collection showcases compelling works by renowned artists such as Jacob Lawrence, Olin Dows, Jackson Lee Nesbitt, Bisa Butler, and many others. Each piece was chosen with care, inviting visitors to slow down, reflect, and connect more deeply with the stories, themes, and cultural significance behind the artwork.

Cheryl Howard, Co-Founder and CEO of the African American Heritage Society of Pensacola, welcomed the crowd and shared remarks highlighting the museum’s mission and the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural heritage. The evening’s presentation was led by Donald Partington, a passionate art collector who guided guests through his personally curated collection. His engaging insights brought the art to life and sparked meaningful conversation throughout the room.

Guests also enjoyed a reception complete with door prizes for registrants, including beautiful hand-blown glass and other items generously donated by First City Art Center, as well as a silent auction item from Randall’s Menswear. Through events like this, the African American Heritage Society continues to honor a rich legacy, making the evening both inspiring and memorable.
