It was the perfect cool, crisp spring evening for the third year of Fork Cancer Pensacola event, held April 10, at Supposey Warehouse & Gardens in Pensacola. Hosted by the American Cancer Society’s GenNow Network Pensacola chapter, the event raises funds for cancer research supporting the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program. One hundred percent of the proceeds provide free transportation to individuals who need rides to and from cancer-related medical appointments.
Sponsored by a range of local vendors, including Flora-Bama, O’Riley’s Irish Pub, and Jerry’s Drive-In, the event drew hundreds of cocktail-attired community members eager to show their support. Guests enjoyed tastings from local culinary vendors, including lemongrass and ginger-seared tuna with vermicelli noodles from Union Public House, as well as custom beverages like a guava hibiscus agua fresca from Tacos El Fluffy. The evening also featured live entertainment from Mr. Big and the Rhythm Sisters, along with a silent auction.
Auction items ranged from gift cards to local restaurants, including George Bistro + Bar and Maker’s Cafe & Espresso Bar, to experiences such as Topgolf outings and a collegiate football weekend at Louisiana State University. Artwork from local artists, including Sean Mullins of Pensacola Vibes, was also available.
“I’m excited to see what we’ve taken from a small event at Sanders Beach Community Center — that was an idea we threw together — to what you’re seeing right now,” said event chair Ryan Frazier. “It’s just getting bigger and bigger.”
Frazier added he hopes the community sees the event as both an enjoyable experience and a meaningful way to support those fighting cancer.
