Clandestinely tucked away inside Scenic Hills Country Club on Burning Tree Road in Pensacola, the bar is the center of attention. A bevy of activity surrounds the bar all throughout the day. In the mornings, one may overhear coffee conversations among the golfers as they prepare for their tee times. Later in the day, others come and go for lunch meetings, happy hour, or a fun evening with friends spent at this bar-in-the-round.
The round shaped bar is a favorite as it allows people to sit and talk to each other in closer proximity than a standard, straight, long bar. Friendships are readily built here on bar stools that are comfortably padded with tall backs used for hanging purses. The area lends itself exceptionally well as a place to dine alone or for fun with your entire squad. Jovial bartenders pass out favored beverages such as icy cold beer, fine wines, liquors, and an assortment of cocktails including featured drinks such as The Hole In One Martini. With a combination of vodka, rum, liqueur, and juice, it touts a taste of the tropics. Slightly green in color with a cherry at the bottom, this drink represents the golfers hole in one. Another favorite called The Scenic Sunset, resembles the beautiful sunsets there on the hill.
The bar menu starts with five salads from which to choose, three soups, fried pork rinds, hot crab dip, steak quesadilla, gulf crab cakes and shrimp cocktail. A few heartier choices include burgers, prime rib on baguette, grilled chicken breast sandwich, fish tacos, and more, proving for a bar menu both tasty and varied. The Chef even put a spin on the wings with his Alabama white BBQ sauce that you will not quickly forget. Boasting an ingredient that he will not share, these wings are flavorful with a lingering hint of horseradish.
As happy hour winds down and the golfers return from the fairways you can hear stories from the day’s games. There are often celebrations spilling over from the course such as a recent, exceptional experience when Janelle Flores and Scott Ames both hit a hole in one on the same day.
Events are routinely scheduled at the Scenic Hills bar area such as “Watch Parties” for televised tournaments, musicians to entertain during the dinner hour, or murder mysteries in the adjacent restaurant.
Open to the public, the Bar at Scenic Hills Country Club is a friendly place to sit, eat, drink, enjoy entertainment and build camaraderie.
