Members and friends of the Bread & Table Club were transported across the Atlantic on the afternoon of March 8, as they gathered at Union Public House for the club’s latest themed gathering, “A Sunday in London.” The event brought a taste of classic British tradition to Pensacola, offering guests an afternoon filled with good company, exceptional cuisine, and a touch of London charm. Proceeds from each ticket benefited the Children’s Backpack Program.

Chef and owner Blake Rushing curated a menu celebrating the flavors and comfort foods of the United Kingdom. Guests were treated to a spread of British favorites, including scotch eggs, English cheese boards, high tea sandwiches, and the ever-popular Sunday roast accompanied by Yorkshire pudding. Creamed leeks and asparagus, alongside crisp potato roasties, rounded out the savory offerings, creating a feast worthy of a proper London Sunday gathering.

Many guests embraced the theme for the afternoon, arriving in tweed jackets, fascinators, pearls, and other British-inspired attire that added to the festive atmosphere and playful spirit of the gathering.

And of course, no British-inspired table would be complete without dessert. Guests enjoyed traditional sweets of eton mess, spotted dick, and treacle tart.

Beyond the delicious fare, attendees were also treated to stories from Chef Rushing about his culinary journey—from working at the famed Savoy Hotel in London to kitchens in New York City and Canada—before ultimately returning to Pensacola to open Union Public House.

With wonderful food, great friends, and a little British flair, “A Sunday in London” proved to be yet another memorable Bread & Table gathering.
